Tuition Fees

Listen

1) What is the ISEE Parificato?

The ISEE Parificato is an economic-status certificate used mainly for students whose family lives outside Italy and therefore cannot obtain a standard Italian ISEE-U. It takes into account information such as your family composition, income, bank/financial assets and property and is used to calculate your university tuition fees and, where applicable, to access benefits such as the ERSU scholarship.  For the 2026/27 academic year, international students choosing tuition based on their family economic situation are required to provide the relevant financial documentation for the ISEE Parificato.

2) Where can I request/Who should I contact to request the ISEE Parificato?

The ISEE Parificato is issued by an authorized CAF (Centro di Assistenza Fiscale) in Italy; it is not issued directly by the University. You should take the required documents from your home country to an authorized CAF. These documents normally concern your family composition, income, financial assets and property and must meet the translation/authentication requirements applicable to your case.  If you need guidance before going to a CAF, you can contact the UniPa International Students support service:

Email: studentistranieri.cot@unipa.it

Phone: +39 091 23865500

Monday–Friday, 9:00–12:30

3) How can I pay the fixed tax?

University fees, including the fixed component, must be paid through PagoPA using the payment notice generated through your UniPa Student Portal. For international students, the fee may consist of a fixed component and, depending on the chosen tuition option, an additional variable contribution. Non-EU students residing abroad may also be eligible for the specific fixed-fee system based on their country of origin.

To pay: Student Portal → your enrolment/registration practice → Payments → PagoPA

You can pay online, or download/print the PagoPA payment notice and pay through a bank, post office or another PagoPA-enabled payment provider. UniPa requires student tuition payments to be made through the PagoPA system.

4) I selected the wrong self-exemption choice in my practice and now my ISEE is high. Can I change it?

Yes. If you forgot to select an exemption or selected the wrong one during enrolment, you can request a correction. UniPa provides a specific procedure called “Modifica esonero tasse universitarie.” Download and complete the relevant form and send it, together with a copy of your identity document, to: rimborsotasse@unipa.it

If the problem is not the exemption itself but an incorrect ISEE value, the procedure is slightly different. Any error in the underlying ISEE/DSU should first be corrected through the competent CAF/INPS procedure; UniPa may then review and recalculate the appropriate tuition bracket. The University can verify and correct the tuition classification where applicable, but it cannot directly modify the INPS database.

5) How can I pay the tuition fees if the PagoPA system is not working?

PagoPA is the official payment method for UniPa tuition fees, so you should not make an ordinary bank transfer as an alternative, as payments made outside the prescribed PagoPA procedure may not be automatically recognized for your student career.  If online payment is temporarily unavailable, first try downloading the PagoPA payment notice from your Student Portal and paying it through another PagoPA-enabled channel, such as a bank, post office or authorized payment provider.  If the Student Portal is not generating the payment notice or you are experiencing a technical PagoPA problem, contact:

PagoPA / enrolment payment support: immahelp@unipa.it

Technical support: supportosia@unipa.it

When contacting support, include your full name, student/application number and a screenshot of the error.

6) How much is the added penalty fee if I pay after the September deadline?

For A.A. 2026/27, the first instalment for open-access Bachelor’s programmes and enrolment in subsequent years is normally due by 30 September 2026; late-payment penalties apply from 1 October.

Under the Student Contribution Regulation currently in force for 2026/27, the late fee for the first instalment is:

• €15 for students in ISEE brackets 0–5;

• €30 for students from ISEE bracket 6 onwards.

The same amount is added for each further 30 days of delay, up to a maximum penalty of €90 for the first instalment.  The exact amount is calculated according to the student’s situation, so the amount shown in the Student Portal/PagoPA notice should always be checked before payment.
