Abstract

In recent years, competition between the great powers has seen the progressive emergence of situations of full-blown economic and financial confrontation. Sanctions, technological restrictions, and controls on trade and financial flows have become central instruments of international politics, transforming global economic law into a terrain of geopolitical contestation. In this context, the BRICS are assuming an increasingly important role: not only as a platform for cooperation between emerging economies, but as a space for coordination aimed at reducing the vulnerability of its members to external economic pressures.
