This paper examines the construction techniques and building materials employed in the Northern Baths of Halaesa Archonidea (Tusa, Messina), one of the largest bath complexes in Roman Sicily, brought to light by archaeological investigations conducted at the site by the University of Palermo’s archaeological mission. The construction of the building can be dated to the late first century BC and the Early Imperial period, while the loss of its original function and the collapse of the complex occurred between the third and fourth centuries AD, also as a result of a landslide towards the valley. Owing to its good state of preservation, the building represents a new and valuable case study for the analysis of construction techniques at the site. It makes it possible not only to expand the corpus of masonry types documented to date, but also to outline their possible evolution, both in terms of the materials employed and the construction methods adopted.
